I noticed the other day that when I turn in either direction and moving at least 20mph over a rough area (on the hwy) I have a medium pitched squeek, I can't tell if its a shock or the steering column. Has anyone else had this problem? 2001. 5

I've got the same problem. While going around a constant turn while going over bumps (interstate on-ramps) I hear a squeaking noise. As far as I can tell, it's coming from somewhere between the door and the steering column on the driver's side. Of course, I can't duplicate the noise while the truck is sitting still.

This dosn't help you, I know, but you're not alone out there!!!

Sounds like the little universal joint just forward of the firewall on the steering shaft. I accidently found a cure for my 98 a couple of years ago while changing the fuel filter. I spilled fuel on the joint and the squeak disappeared. From then on, I lubed it with WD-40 during normal service activities and the squeak never returned. Mine did it on slight turns to the left when driving or a hard turn in either direction over something rough.
