SRT-10 hood ordered!

Here is a pic of the new SRT Hood and Bumper on my 2003 Ram CTD.



Hood bolted on with no problems. Scoop insert snaps in with clips.



In order to make the bumper cover work, you must have a SPORT front bumper rebar, two side adapter pieces, one top adapter piece and one lower adapter piece to mount it to a SPORT rebar support.



The tires are 315/70R17 and clear the bumper with no problems (surprise). I do have 2" pucks.



Sorry the pics are grainy, I'm trying to fix the picture size. The original pics are too large, and when I downsize them, the quality goes bad. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would appreciate it. For more pics at different angles, see my readers rigs gallery.

Nice! Any pics of the hood underside? I thought the scoop was non-functional so I don't understand why your saying it's open to the engine?



I'd like to see how plausible it would be to make it a functional scoop that drops the air into a custom airbox near the stock location.

I never said it was non-functional. It is functional and is open to the engine. You can see the valve cover through the scoop.

In fact I do have one being made that takes the air that enters through the scoop and dumps the air into the side of my DD airbox. I designed it to enter through the side of the airbox facing downward, so that any water that may enter can drain through the bottom of the airbox.

I didn't mean to imply you said it was non-functional, I was just going by what everyone had been saying and pictures of the SRT-10 engine. On the SRT-10 pictures it looked like it had a standard air box. So I'm assuming the hood, while open, is really only providing a hot air exit for the engine and not supplying air to the air box. So technically, it's still not really functional.



Knowing that it is in fact open though should make it easier to make something work to feed air to the air box. Please get some pictures of the underside in stock form and especially after your new intake is done.



I wonder is some enterprising company out there cares to come up with a kit to make this easy? Who is building yours?

It looks nice, but... for those of us that live in the crappy-weather states with rain, snow and falling leaves, this thing would let it all into the engine compartment?

I will try to take some pictures of the underside tonight, and post them tomorrow. The underside looks identical to the stock hood with the exception of the hood scoop cutout.



I am having a local custom fabricator make the induction tube for me.

For those wondering about the functionality of the SRT-10 hood opening, the scoop was only intended for engine compartment ventilation/cooling. It was not intended for engine air intake, nor to work with an intercooler (the SRT-10 of course doesn't use one). And yes, rain/snow will enter the scoop just as easily as they do the main radiator grille.

Now that would be WICKEDLY fast if it did have an intercooler, attached to a turbo or two of coarse.
