YIKES! I can see it now over on DieselStop... "I raced a Cummins today and... " ;)

Oh, and if you do ever get a G56 shifter going lemme know. I find that the stock shifter is pretty easy to reach already though.

Great news - I am currently working with BD power to make a KIT using thier short-shift kit.

The kit might be a SRT-10 shifter with a lower short shift tower...

What'da all think?

Yes! Please do. Also please offer the shifter as a separate item so those of us with the short-shift already can just spin on the new shifter! I'll be the first in line to buy one. You have any beta units available for purchase yet? ;)

the plan is about a 2. 5 inch movement to the driveside - So the ball will be 2-3 inches closer to the driver.

BTW - I miss my shifter very much - The stock ball (like plastic) SUCKS!

Looks Sweet!!

If you make up a Pistol-Grip ala the late '60's early "70's Mopars, like they did on Trucks (or 2 Guys Garage... can't remember) I'm in!!

Do a search... . its been discussed.

Main problem... ... . those shifters that Stacey showed on that episode range from $200 for the small one to right @ $400 for the big one! :eek: :--) :{

TRUST ME! I wanted one!! :{

By the way I passed the "Lil Red Wagon" today for the second time. :-laf

First time was side by side on a little 4 lane bypass in my hometown/town I work in (Gallatin, TN). Today I saw him getting onto Briley Parkway East off of I-65S. :D The 'Wagon could really use a bath! :-laf

Also ask them to make the shifter so it has more room for the beverage cup in the cup holder for driver. Every time I go to put a soft drink cup from a fast food joint in the cup holder, part of it gets spilled when I shift the truck into second. (on the G-56 trucks, never had this problem with my NV5600)

I know about the previous threads... I think I started all of them! lol!

I really want one still, but my mind is wandering more and more to performance mods now that my miles are getting closer and closer to 100,000.

Wish I could find someone in the Phoenix AZ area with a bombed truck I could ride in! might put the nail in the coffin!

DITTO!!!

I remember, like the first week I had the truck, I heard this HORRIBLE buzzing sound coming from the transmission shifter... I thought something was wrong until I realized it was just my coffee cup vibrating against the shifter!!!! Tall mugs and bottles will touch the shifter in 6th too... :rolleyes:

Sounds great, but what about a short shift HOLLOW shifter for us G56 guys?

Anymore news on these shifters?

The Hurst shifter is making some great headway... Working on a BD short shifter kit made bolt up the the hurst shifter from the SRT-10 (direct)

It was determined that ANY welding may weaken and make breakage more likely.

Trust me, I just spent $445 on the lower pivot part of the SRT-10 shifter (for measurements, etc), I am super excited to make progress on this kit!

Tomey,

Not sure if you have a list going of people who are interested in this or not. If so add me to it. I was just about ready to jump in and get the short throw shifter when I came across this thread. I wanted to figure out a way to get the shifter closer to me at the same time. Looks like you are gonna get it all packaged up for those of us who want it. If the price isn't too outrageous I'll definitely buy one.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks,

Jeff

I do in fact have a list of people that want to know when its ready...

Heck the hard part is getting the shifters from dodge, as of today there are only 5 available in the whole country... And hurst will not sell them direct, it is a part only sold to dodge.

Thats the only hang up I see

And the shifter is closer to me and I am not such a big guy, so it much more comfortable now

Looks like you couldnt get seat any closer to the steering wheel even if you had too :-laf Looks nice dude Im glad to see you keep it all MOPAR!

I don't know who is doing your welding or to what process (GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, etc) but maybe you could elaborate on this statement. A talented welder with proper weld prep should not yield a weaker area. Did your last one break across the weld or just beyond the weld in the base material?

not trying to be a jerk, just wanting to help!
