I've got the Srt hood and would like to find a chrome insert for the grill portion on the hood, does anyone know where to get one of these. ??? :confused:

Wow, a BIN price of $175. It's a nice looking piece but a bit pricey. Here's the eBay pic;

I'm planning to make a few over the holiday break. Mine will be stainless steel flat stock grill style to match my grill. Painted black chassis with a polished face. I could post up later when I have a better idea of what it'll cost to make a few.

And that is the reason I do not have one. GWoody, thats the one I mentioned. I guess they can ask that much for it from the SRT-10 crowd. 6$ piece of aluminum + $20 worth of labor + one SRT-10 owner = to dang spendy. Doug, when you find out what it would cost to make a few, let us know. I'd be interested in one also. I have thought of making my own also, but instead of a grill style, making it more like shark teeth. But I'm afraid that it might end up looking kind of funky.

Doug, put me on the list too, Id be interested, especially if it is flat bars that would match my grill.

How much did the SRT-10 hood cost you?

I'd love one.

Bellon, my hood cost me $660 which included the grill insert and misc. parts plus the $100 I gave to have it painted and installed. I bought my hood when I bought my truck so I didn't do any shopping around for a better price. I have read that it can be found for closer to $500. I'm not going to complain about it, the hood makes my truck look :cool: :cool: . :D

And thats one of the reasons I will not pay close to $200 for that chunk of aluminum. It costs about a third of what the whole dang hood cost. And beside's, it's not worth the $175+ the guy wants for it.

The hood without insert lists for $600 and the insert, called a molding, lists for around 120. So, 660 for both (with tax?) wasn't bad. And, 100 to paint it is good, getting a good match with the expensive materials used today. Then you have to try to sell the old one, but there are several in the classifieds right now, so that might not be easy. If your dealer kept the old one, he was hoping someone would need it some day and give him a bit of profit.
