Which gages match stock appearance??

What kind of life are you getting on your stock air filter?

I'm seriously thinking of the SRT10 hood but are there any issues with fitting over the Cummins engine?

I've also been told in order to get this hood you need to show proof of ownership of a SRT10. Is this true? I have it covered but it sounds odd.

Any one who uses the SRT10 hood, do you have alot of dust in the engine compartment?

No issues. Maybe more dust; don't know. Get a decent paint shop to match the color. Costs of materials for today's paint jobs will probably make it cheaper to have a shop do it, even if you know how to spray.

I ordered by part numbers, hood and insert, no serial number for a truck. Part numbers were on this forum some months ago.

No issues

My SRT-10 hood fit perfectly and required no body work before painting. I get a lot of positive comments on it but I didn't install the cheesy plastic air intake grill. Instead I milled a billet aluminum insert, sorry, no digital camera.

Thanks for the replies. The fitment was the last issue I wanted to get straight before I get the hood. I'll try to shop around a little, my dealer offered me the obligatory 10% off accessories, I'll try to take advantage of that.

I'll be machining my own insert also out of 303 stainless.

Great choice of hood, I've see a lot of trucks with them on and they look sweet.

Only problem that I know of with the hood is that my truck has yet to recive one. :D

SRT-10 Hood Issues

I've put three on customers trucks so the above is true about paint and fit. Keep in mind the underhood sound dampening mat will need to be trimed to fit or left off. Of course why put it back on when you got that big duct in the hood!! Or you could put in the Viper Mat " Powered By Viper"

It either one of you get pictures of your intakes let me know I might try and sell them with the hoods :D

Joseph,

Do you have the part numbers... I can't find the previous post regarding them?

Thanks,

Marty

Thank you Joseph, I bought them & have already painted them PX8 Black even though my truck doesn't arrive for three more weeks!

I've also got my 19. 5" wheels & tires sitting here ready to mount on the truck... am I getting ahead of myself? :-laf

I was going to get one, however I decided to go to a functional Ram Air Hood for the same price.

See my photo's, I don't want to Hi-Jack this thread. Just thought some may want a functional Ram Air hood.

That Hood makes the 3rd gens look great. Make sure the paint shop is good though. If you bring it to a shop make sure there is very few spanish speaking immigrants, you will run into shotty work...

I like the idea of a functional hood & Piers at PDR has a great aftermarket hood too on his 04 but I'm Mopar crazy... if it wasn't made by Mopar then she's not going on.

It's kind of like the Navigation systems... I'm sure there are many aftermarket systems far superior to the RB1 but you won't find them in my truck.

I do like those big bumpers though Bob!

A small update;

I bought a hood, (Thx Racebeeper68) and it's got a paint appointment the first week of the year. My buddy who's painting it is a perfectionist, getting the factory variances for paint codes, this is why the long wait for me.

For those who have the SRT hood, what did you do for the hood heat pad?

Did you just shear an opening or did you fork over for the SRT heat pad?

I was thinking of using some tinsnips in the front center.

BTW, can't wait to have this on finally, Oo.

Doug, I went with option #three for the heat pad. I left the dang thing off. :-laf The only thing that pad does is give the under side of the hood a finished appearance. Although when I get too detailing the engine compartment, I might just spring for that SRT pad, just for the looks of it. Can you post some pic's of the insert when you have it finished? And are you thinking of making and selling any? There's a small list of us with the SRT hood that are looking for something like this. Some bozo is selling them on ebay for around. $200 :--) Thats way too much for a $1. 57 piece of aluminum with about 10/15 minutes worth of machining done to it.

Thanks Phloop, As for the insert I know alot are interested. I need to check out the price of material and availability still. Your pricing is obviously low, infact I'd pay 200% of your cost if you could make them for that, but it's just not that easy. The guy's price is too high but he's selling to an eBay customer who will occasionally pay for it.

The one I'm planning to make will be from stainless steel to copy my own Carridge Works grill, copied in scale also, less the grill's center-cross.

If I buy enough material to make a few I would not price them for big profits but the price may still be close to $100. I'm also choosing st/st because of the ability to hold it's luster and weldability (at home).

I will have an idea of price by next week, I'm still trying to find 304 st/st flat bar by . 093 thick.
