P. S. -- sorry it is so long but if i am gunna do it i wanna do it right

Blue-Beast, check out my webshots page, my stacks are 36", 5" in diameter, and bearly clear the top of my cab. do a search on "rob thomas" he makes stack kits and everyone that has purchased stacks from him seems pretty happy! it took me all of an hour to install my stacks, and man does it sound good! good luck and make sure to post pics once you get your stacks on your rig.

I have a kit from Rob and it is great. Check my gallery for pics. I have 36"x5" turn out and are high above the cab due to the cross bar with the kit.

p. s. should i shorten them?

pm Rom Thomas he's right up 75 you could even go see him, I pm'd him just haven't got there yet and still trying to convince the wife her truck would sound awsome

I'm runnin' 5" turnouts (see gallery for pics). The only advice I have to offer is measure twice, cut once... ESPECIALLY for that hole in the bed. It's pretty easy... just goes together like a big Lego set. The bigest PITA is getting the old stuff off. FWIW, I've heard good things about Rob's kits, too.

stacks

look at my reader's rigs gallery for mine. I did them myself but they are just like what rob thomas sells. I got 48" stacks and cut off about 8" to get a height that I could live with.

i see that all the holers are about a foot from the corner is this the best way to do it?? and what are the box style cross pieces made of??? aswome pics guys i want them even more!!!!

I just ordered enough piping and the stacks so I can weld a set together and it's gunna cost about $350 for all the pieces. This is aluminized pipe into 36x5" chrome tip outs.

Another stack question???

Another stack question?

How do the stacks sound that are running through all round exhaust pipe,to the ones that are running through square and rectangular tubing?

The ones that are running through rectangular pipe do you guys have the nice deep tone that the guys do that are running through all round pipe?

I put stacks on my truck about a month ago and used 4X6 3/8 thick rectangular tubing, with 48 inch long 5 inch turn outs, and I do not have the real deep tone that I had when I had the factory exhaust on that was stright piped. I now have one helluva drone at 1800 rpms that can just about make your ears bleed.

I do have a real nice turbo hum at idle and low rpm but other than that it just about sounds like it has a muffler on it.

Would going to all round pipe give me back the nice deep tone and sound I'm looking for?

Thanks.

Nice turbo flutter at light throttle, better sound under a load than most semi's, amazing turbo whistle on the shifts and get this...

NO DRONE for the first time since I've owned the truck!

Richard, is that a custom toolbox with the cut out in the back for the piping? I like the finished look.

Nope. I relief cut the back of the box, inverted the removed piece, and reattached it. Now that I know that I don't have heat issue I'll have the inside Rhino lined. Here's a couple of pics from my gallery. There are a few more there also...

Blue one thing to keep in mind if you make your own is make sure you have flex pipe in there. Or you could mess things up from the bed moving.

Sweet! I really like my box on the rails but your idea looks really slick. Guess I need to either practice up on my TIG welding or put the aluminum wire back in the gun!
