Can someone give me some info on stacking a EZ with a Power Edge with a Hot #3-what does that mean having a Hot #3. Also stacking an EZ with a Power Edge Comp. What do you get out of stacking these, and do they still work individualy or does one drown the other out? Each one plugs into something different right? What is the advantage of having a Hot #3 setting on an edge vs a comp.

The EZ gives timing plus some fuel, the Power Edge gives a bunch of fuel (no timing), the Comp is the combination of the two boxes. You can stack the EZ and PE, but nothing with the Comp.

A Hot #3 (like mine) just gives more fuel than the standard #3 setting - basically like if the PE had a level 4 on top of the #3.

When stacking boxes, connect the major fueling box up to the MAP sensor first, then the timing box (it only needs to see up to 20psi, the major fueling box needs to see more or you won't get all of its fueling). Then connect the factory wiring harness after the EZ.

The HOT PE is a higher HP version of the PE. The normal HP levels are 60,80,100 HP. Whereas the Hot PE is 80,100,130 HP.

You wouldn't use the EZ with a Comp, just the EZ and PE. The Comp is the EZ and PE combined. More than likely, Edge will produce a Hot version of the Comp. You know the demand will be there. Right now, the EZ and Hot PE is more HP than the Comp by itself.

Both units (PE and EZ)plug in to the Map sensor, but work independently of each other.

Jacob,

I have had all three boxes on my truck, not at the same time. Like Fred said, you cant stack the Edge comp and an EZ. I still have the power edge (standard,3 light) and the EZ that came off my truck when I upgraded to the comp. Either of those two combinations are about the same power, I've seen it when I dynoed. The comp is a little smoother in the transtion of power when the extra fuel kicks in. I would be more than willing to show you both setups, drop me a line and we can hook up.

Hot Edge Comp

Spoke with Edge today, the comp box is at it's maximum efficiency. Brett says that there is no benefit to increasing the fueling of the box due to the limitations of the injector pump. Any more added fuel just dribbles out of the injectors. The only appreciable increase you would see is more smoke and higher EGTs. They have not seen any increase in HP while testing on there dyno.

I am thinking about selling my EZ to a friend and trading my Hot PE in on a Comp. Some say that the Hot PE and EZ put out more power than the Comp. Is this true? Does anyone have any dyno numbers or personal experience to shed light on this? I don't want to loose any HP, but would like to have the adjustability of the Comp.

Hey Dean,
I will call you around lunch tomrrow, 2pm. or call me anytime from 10-6 at 238-0820 ask for Jacob in Millworks. I am very interested in seeing what the differences are between the two, I lke the idea of having power all the time from the EZ but I think from what I heard that you can adjust the somke from inside the cab on the comp with 5 different settings for each setting of the comp. Are there such settings on the Hot Edge? If so then I think you get double the smoke control and the added bonus of a little more power. I don't know how the tim will go, because I am basically rebuilding my friends 240 I-6 out of a 66 ford for him instead of me helping him. but maybe we could set up a time for say thursday( I think I am off that day).

Jacob

I'll call you at work in the morning, I work nights so I will be asleep by noon. Thursday works for me, I have an appointment in Round Rock in the morning and then we can hook up. As for the Power Edge, it is either off or set to one of three power levels. There are not the sub menus that the comp box has to control low end smoke. If you are thinking of useing a hot Edge and a comp together, that doesn't work. You can not stack another box on with the comp, well as far as I know.

Bob

I don't know about the hot PE/EZ combo, but on my truck I gained 4HP and lost 32FtTq switching to the comp. Brett told me that the reduction in torque on the dyno is due to the smooth transition of fueling from internal=(computer) to external= (solenoid) and that if I turned the rollars of a mustang dyno that I would see all that torque + some come back. A funny thing I see is that we are at the same HP but your truck makes 120FtTq more than mine, whats up with that. Call Brett and ask about the switch, he's geat to dell with.
