2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Stacks out hood legal?

SO just curious... Is a stack out the hood legal? I mean rat rods have headers flipped and it comes out in front of the cab... I saw somebody with it. I figure it is the quickest way to get the turbo to spool since it is so short and what not but is it really all that great? what are the ups and downs to this? If it is lega.

I can say with 100% certaincy ... ... NO. In fact TECHNICLY not a single one of us runing any modified exhaust (Not replacement) is not legal to the sence that the oem emissions equipment (yes that includes pipe) has been tampered with.



Stack out the hood screams that fact.

Most rat rods are old enough to be emissions exempt. The noise levels are their only hassle with enforcement most places. Do you know how loud that setup would be on a street-driven turbodiesel truck?

i would say check your local laws, i have a cust in TX that has it done on his daily driver and he's legal.



for instance i got a ticket in deleware for "muffler under 30 inches" every place is different

I saw one at Huckstorf Diesel in MIlwaukee a couple years back. It was loud, it was awesome. :-laf

You WILL attract attention and they WILL know you obviously have no mufflers.



Beyond that, you will have the oily soot blowing and dripping all over your windshield at times and your roof and the rest of the truck all the time.



All you need to do is look at the front of many semi trailers to see what that looks like.

I just think for the LOUD factor it would be AWESOME!!! but yeah I am going with a single passenger side 6 inch miter cut. I think that should be lound enough for me.
