Putting a cover on my 2 wheel drive that has stacks on it, how much of a gap around the stacks do I need to leave?

Thanks,

Ted

Ted, there's a guy here in CT with a cover, it's looks like a 1/2" gap all the way around. I can find out for sure if need be.

If you are putting on a soft cover put it as close to the pipe as you can.

When the cover gets warm it will pull away from the hot stack. I have 1/16 to 1/8 inch gap around the pipe when hot and at some spots it will touch the pipe when cold. 4 years with the same cover :) I had a friend of mine in York Pa. put the holes in my cover and he did the cover on Jet Pilot's old truck also. If you want his number PM me.

Good Luck

Cliff

You could double wall the stacks and have it right up against. Leave air space between the inside true stack and the outside for looks stack and it shouldn't get hot enough to do any damage to the tonneau.

Forgot to mention, I believe EEP sells a nice looking 2' wide alluminum piece that fits over the stacks and then you buy a 6' cover.

Scott that's the 2nd pic of your truck with a North Carolina tag I've seen what gives?

the holes in my tonoe are about 1/4 bigger then my stacks... . pics are in my readers rigs and also on my webshots page... . my fingers still hurt from sewing that leather

Its had the NC tags since I bought it in 97, active duty military, I went to Boston and now Cali I would be crazy to register in those two places, besides I get away with a lot leaving it out of state :)

I left a half inch around mine, but then again, mine opens up. If yours doesn't open up, I would leave about 1/8-1/4" away. If you need pics, I can get you some.
