Howdy:cool: ,

I may have a oppurtunity to get some stacks for free or very cheap, but I haven't really decided if they would look good on my

truck. (w250) (only one stack) I already have the 4" flex and I think the stacks are 4 or 5". what I need to know is; How would it look with a toolbox? and how do you secure it?? PICTURES please.

Thanks, Steve

Philip, your the man with all the answers.

I really need to see some more 1st gens with stacks. I saw formula's in Readers Rigs and it looks good, but I think I'm going with just one (if it looks okay by itself) and I aint sure how it will look with my toolbox.

There was a link in there for one truck where the owner took and moved the tool box back and fabed a section of diamond plate to cover the hole and the stacks ran though it. Looked good.

Hummmm..... one stack or two.....

I originally had one stack on my truck, but it got to looking really lonely, so now it has two:D So, if you go with one stack, you could run the piping in several ways: 1- inside the frame up through the bed, if you go straight up, the stack is going to be right near the middle of the truck, looks a bit silly. 2- still go inside the frame, but use a couple of elbows to put the stack near the edge of the bed. 3- run the pipe along the inside of the frame and then go under and up at the front of the bed, this will make the pipe hang down a lot under the frame and it doesn't look quite so nice. 4- make a fenderwell downpipe (ala therabbittree) and run the exhaust pipe just under the body and on the outside of the frame and then up into the stack, this looks nice and you can barely see the pipe under the truck. Oh, and on the size of the stacks..... 5" will look a lot bigger than the 4". FWIW, my stacks are 4".

About the stacks...

Hey all,

I was just wondering. . . has anyone ever seen stacks on a 2wd CTD? Mine is a 2wd, of course (wish it wasn't) but i've always wanted to put stacks on it, 5"ers of course. But I've just never seen a Dodge Cummins that was 2 wheel drive with stacks. Does anyone think that would look kinda stupid? I mean, the 4wd makes the truck look bigger and the stacks kinda go with the "bigness", but my front shocks need replaced and the front end is kinda low. I was just wondering if it would look dumb. Any thoughts?

Hey, jaynes... ... DOOO IIIITTTTT!!!:D

Another thing I just remembered about the 4"/5" stacks... You can get really nice mounting brackets for the 5"ers which aren't available for 4". Just something to consider.

Sean

really?

On a 2wd? I just didn't know if that would look right or not. Can you picture it? I'm trying really hard, and if I get the job I want this summer, then i'll have enough money to do some of the things I want. But go for it? . . . :D

Yep,

I think it'll look great! Don't put the stacks up too high though. When I had my single, it stuck up a foot over the cab, that was a bit too much for my liking. Anyway, you've got lots of options for sizes and tips (i. e. curved, straight, angled). There are also many variations on curved and angled stacks based on manufacturer. Whatever you do, use stacks that are OD for their entire length. This way, you can always make 'em shorter and just put 'em back into the elbows (or reducers, depending on size of stack).

Oh, y'all have got to look up MCummings in the readers' rigs. His stacks are absolutely insane:eek: :D Oo.

Oh, sorry about that. What OD means is Outside Diameter. I was referring to a stack that does not have an expanded end. So, let's say your elbows going up to the stacks have the 4" ID (inside diameter) piece facing up, then you can slide the stack inside the elbow. This will allow you to cut the stack shorter if you want to without having to get the end of the stack expanded to 4" ID.

So far I like what I see (formula's rig, unclebillys, and Thunderolls)

I may have seen some more 1st gen's with stacks but Thunderolls

truck can't be touched! That truck can take names!!! If my truck ever looks half that good I will have died and gone to heaven. I wish I could see his stack just a little closer so I can see how I want mine. I guess I'll wait and see if I can get the one I want free or not. I may not have a choice in tips(straight,45o or curved) I will have to wait and see. Maybe can get it in a week or two.

thanks, Steve

If I remember right, Rob Thomas' truck is done this way, and I think he posted some pics of it. His stacks are also unique since his bed dumps and the stacks go up with the bed. Check out his album. I was there at Muncie and voted for him. Nice truck. Oh, nice guy too. :)

Thanks Sean, thats some good info I'll have to remember. I told me girlfriend today I was thinking about doing it, and she told me "NO! I like it the way it is!" And I flat out said, "Well, it's my Beast, and I'll do what I please, with or without you're approval!" :-laf I think she'd appreciate the end result. Anyway, thanks again for clearing that up for me! Take 'er easy.
