are installing stacks easy. what mods. have to be done to truck.

what are the benefits.

saw a nice 2500/ctd with em' the other day, cool. :D

mods: cut hole in bed, drill a couple holes for mounting/support brackets. the rest is just exhaust work.

benefits: prevent small children and visually impaired people from running out in front of you? :p no real performance benefit over a properly sized "full length" system, but you CAN NOT beat the sound!!!

my stacks are coming out in the next week or so. I'm gonna miss 'em :(

My set up was a little harder (see pics in readers rigs) than the normal way of doing it, but still pretty easy.

Forrest, why are you removing the stacks:confused: ?????

P. S. My brothers name is Forrest.

your bro has a pretty cool name! ;)

as for getting rid of the stacks? they were on the truck when I bought it... I love the way they sound, but I will admit they get a little rowdy above ~80mph. I have a single cab, and they're 45* turnouts that exit about 6-8" above the roof. if I were going to do it myself, I would run a 4" pipe under the passenger side frame rail and come up through the passenger/front corner of the bed into a single 5-6" straight exit stack painted w/ high temp black exhaust paint... falls more inline with my philosophy of "subtle nastiness", plus there's more room in the bed, and with the straight exit on the passenger side, the sound is furthur away from my ears, and the straight exit would push the smoke up a bit higher than the turn outs. I'd probably have it exit about 8-10" above the cab.

anyhow, I'm putting a toolbox/auxiliary tank combo in the bed, and I need as much bed space as possible, so the stacks are being replaced with a 5" system from Jon at City Muffler & Performance that will be installed sans muffler as soon as my lazy butt gets out there in the cold and gets busy!
