I was just talking with PDR about the stage 1 vs. stage 2 AFE intake setups, but they haven't done much research on the stage two unit.

Has anyone here had any experience with both and can make a good comparison? The stage 2 unit must be a WHOLE lot better to have an extra $150 on the price tag.

Thanks!

Nobody knows???

Well, maybe if I stir the pot a little...

It seams as though the Mega Cannon setup is the preferred intake. So then if the stage two unit is superior... then it must be the best intake kit out there?

I'm really not concerned about noise... if it's too noisy I'll just throw the silencer ring back in. :D

I had a Scotty II with the 4. 5" cowl hole cut on my first 97. I definately will have another on my new to-me 97. I have never had a Mega Cannon setup of my own, but the Scotty II promised gains of 200* EGT reduction that I needly very badly. Well the promise was verified when I gained 100* of reduction on just the fender inlet alone, and another 75* with the cowl hole. Just my $. 02 but my preferred intake is the Scotty II. ;)

When I got my Scotty II AND cut the cowl hole, I thought the turbo whine was excessive (was not without the cowl hole).

Then I got the TAG AND installed the silencer ring into the KSB1-B.

The noise reduction was more than 50%. Not sure if it was the silencer or the TAG but certainly both did it for me.

I am VERY pleased with the pre turbo EGT's and the Scotty II. The air draw from outside, easy maintenance, easy to check on integrity makes it a VERY GOOD filter system. Definitely keeps the EGT's down.

Ahah... so it seems the scotty is the preferred unit? I did a search on this, but was surprized not to find a lot of discussion on it.

Thanks guys!

I will be looking for the scotty II, i installed the stage 2 afe and what a joke,

How do you cut out the cowl?

Could anyone send me pics of the scotty II and the cowl cut out, PLease!!!

Thanks in advance

Joe

Joe, the cowl is cut with a 4. 5" holesaw, nothing fancy or complicated, and used a rubber ring gasket from a semi-trailer brake light. I had one a few years back but didn't use it very long as it was way too noisy for me, sold it on ebay awhile ago.
