Stage 3 injectors with Edge Drag Comp?

Ive been doin my research and makin phone calls. Wanted to get some input on what Im thinking. Im considering ordering an Edge Drag Comp and keeping the pump wire unhooked for a while (probably end up being shorter than I think haha) until I can upgrade more, and putting stage 3 Bully Dogs or DD's in. Will this setup strain my stock turbo to much? What would yall recommend in conjunction with this setup? How will this be as far as performance, clutch, fuel economy, egt's and smoke? I know alot depends on my right foot. Im ordering boost, pyro and fuel pressure tommorrow. I only tow frequently but dont want to hurt my towing.

98. 5 2500 club cab short bed, 5spd manual, 4" from turbo to 5" stack, silencer ring removed.

I just switched from BD2's to DD3's and I am very impressed with the difference both power and smoke.

I also run a PDR35 which is a very nice quick spooling turbo.

You should be fine with the 3's and comp w/o wire attached, but after that its bombs away.

enjoy the ride

Your clutch will slip and your EGT's will be hot with the comp turned up, but do it anyway because you will be all :D :D :D :D :D

If you have the comp off the 3's will be OK for towing with the turbo.

Until you hook up the wire is just going to be the same as an EZ, so no adjustability there. Unless you tow heavy you should be fine. It is going to be smoky in low boost situations but contolable with the comp, once you get it installed the way it should be;) , anything above 3 on the fuel setting will be real easy to bury the pyro with step 3 injectors. BTW the only difference betwen acomp and a drag comp, is the drag version won't defuel wheni it's on 5/5. Wire = bye bye clutch!

HTH,

The best adjustability is being able to turn it off while towing and with the drag comp run in ez mode, he can do that. A Southbend Con Fe will handle the hp but make sure you do the 5th gear nut update and go with the 13" clutch and flywheel

Well if we start spliting hairs;) LOL Good point tho! We must thinking way too much about this stuff... ... ..... :D at least it's what the boss tells me. :D

Are stage 3's as high as you would recommend for this setup? From what Ive read anything more would be he** with the stock turbo and stock clutch. Would the Drag Comp be my best bet or would I be just as well off with a Comp?

drag comp is fine. . you are already way past the danger zone then anyway [way hot] :p

you will blow by the clutch with EZ and DDIII's and you will have well over 1300 on EGT's with this set up as well. . but again the foot is the issue ;)

you'll need a turbo some time very soon after the Ez potrion is hooked with DDIII's

I agree with what's been said above, esp. , Bob's comments. I would add that with the 5" stacks, you could control towing temps with the Comp. I have just the Comp and 4" exhaust and I tow with ithe Comp set on 2/1 to control the smoke and temps. Pulling the worst freeway grades nets EGT's about 1170 or so degrees pre turbo.

If you were to leave the box off at all times your clutch might last for a few thousand miles but we all know how hard that is to do. If it's a 98. 5 you most likely have some miles on it so I would doubt the clutch will last more than 5k miles on injectors alone.

You can buy a normal comp box and have it upgraded later. It costs about the same to do it that way as to buy Drag Comp now. Put the extra 200 towards the clutch and your truck will like you a lot more. Plus your smile factor will be up there when you can actually put the power to the ground.

If you tow at all I would avoid anything higher than stage 3's. In my 5spd I can hit 1200+ on just stage 3's and a PDR40 towing my boat (80*+). I know it would be well over 1300 with the stock turbo.

Oh look it's "Flames McKenzie" ;)

I'd go with the BD3s at least, nah, go bigger, and the Drag Comp. With it set to 5x5 you might get enough fuel in 5th gear at 20mph to start that stack fire you wanted :p
