Stage II Garrett ball bearing turbo upgrade

We installed the Pre-production turbo kit on my truck over the weekend and I like the upgrade, a little more whistle than I wanted but not real loud or annoying, lower EGT’s and mileage is up(have not done a hand calculation yet). We tried a bunch of different setting on the Smarty and it’s just too much smoke, very hard to control and Tom over at Turbo Re-Source is ordering a Super Chip and maybe the Edge per Merlin Johnson to try out.

I thought I heard something about some beta software for the Smarty for reduced smoke, anyone else hear this? Thanks.

what size exh housing?Hows the spool up,stock turbo vs bb turbo?I had a bb turbo on my ford and loved the spool up.

I run the beta. . With 90hp injectors there was very little smoke when using a 62-14.

Spool up is greatly improved, as for the size I was asked not to reveal it as it is still in the pre-production stage.

Im with Morse, once on boost my 66 cleans up the smoke really nice!

YEAH, but it's that "once on boost" part that can be the killer - my stocker runs clean too after it "gets on boost", it just doesn't GET there fast enough! :-laf:-laf

It's a new kit that's coming out. I have a (2006) automatic 4x4 there is still some issues with the dip stick for the transmission and the stock air box.



The current Smarty program I'm running is stock injectors and after market turbo and it pours out black smoke, never really cleans up much.

Can you tell us if the new kit uses a variable vane turbo?
