Matt... I made the flanges by sawing them from a piece of plate ... I did it the hard way since I had more time then money. There are much more faster and cost effective ways

Hey John, there are some sweet trails up there... you really need to check out the Suntop trail off FS73... up past Greenwater!

It is an Epic ride! Expect to spend all day... it is 21 Miles of some of the most technical single track I have seen!

JB: Man... you have more patience than I do.

My TIG welding/plasma cutting equipment is dying to make a set of headers.....  I need time!!!! haha

Matt

Well. . I kinda cheated the time thing. . I did most of it while I was working!!! I was running a 92 inch ring on our big Vertical boring mill and some of the cuts take a hour to complete so I had lots of time for 2 weeks. I'll try to post some pics of the job when its complete. Its at the Flame hardner now. Matt... am in NJ so maybe I can tend some events your at. JB

JB: Cool... . yeah, I'd love to see the header up close. It's always interesting seeing other people's ideas come to fruition ($0. 50 word!!).

Sheesh... . flame hardened and everything.

A machine that can handle 92"?! Whoa!

Matt

I've had a lot of experience polishing stainless steel "powerhouse" belt buckles , and just happen to have the stuff to do it with , too:D :D

Cliff, I hiked from the airstrip there to the SunTop lookout on a Volkswalk in 1992. I elected to do the 22k hike as opposed to the 10 or 11k "standard" length hike. I remember the date (Fall 1992) as it was several months after I bought my new (then) 4x and I had a cast on my hand. With as hot as I got from the hike, my hand swelled to the point it was really being pressured by the cast. I then knew exactly how the theory of a Ball Park frank worked. :D

(sort of)

Sorry to be off subject JB.

Merrick...

Does the comment you seek on those headers have to be nice?.

I am not sure whose they are or what they are for(somehow I'd guess a Flowerpoke)but, other than fitting problems, why so many nasty bends?. Knowing what I have learned from years of racing and seeing numerous header designs on a motor being dynoed I'd have to say they would kill HP & torque. There are way to many bends(and some nasty ones at that) to allow good airflow and bends are way to close together with not enough straight to ensure flow properties. Hop they work better than they look is all I'd say. Just my . 02 worth..... Andy

No, but don't make 'em personal! :) heh

Looked under the hood of a PowerStroke? If they didn't bend like that, I don't think the'd even begin to fit!

Anyway,, in a few months, the PSD world is gonna flip upside down, there are many "innovations" being worked on that will make that PSD really run.

Probably would get better responses from the source...

Andrew? Care to comment?

What do you want to know? :D

I know they have been tried on a Cummins before, and one issue was the weight of the turbo once the pipes heated up. Not saying this wont work, I hope it does. :)

The cool thing about the PSD is that the pipes don't support the weight of the turbo, so that is not an issue.

The sound that these get are REALLY different. :)

Merrick,

Care to tell me more about these "innovations"? :)

Where's David? I'm not privy to any "Innovations", but I know they are out there, along the lines of major fueling changes, ECM programming, standalone units, Oil sumthin' another.

Care to add anymore?

Merrick...

I was not trying to make them personal. At times I know I am bad at letting my typing finger over-run my brain. I also know of the constricted area of the Flowerpoke and why you have them designed like that. My only question is this... . In the pursuit of that very elusive extra little punch of HP/TQ one only wonders why anyone would try something that just looking at it you know it will kill the search?.

Lots of wasted money is spent seeking that extra pop. Parts which usually end up tossed, sold in the classifieds, given to the less fortunate or collecting dust in the garage corner. Header technology is not a hidden game its in front of you everywhere. Any amount of research and you'll get why I say they will not provide you with what you seek and end up dust collectors.

2 of the 3 sets shown here I'd bet money on being corner dust collectors. The top one is so close to the ATS it is scary. But who am I to say,its only my opinion... ... . Andy

What a waste of time and money for net gains of possible less than ZERO HP! And numerous headaches coming, for sure. JMHO.

Other than that, they look cool as hell, and my compliments go to the craftsmen.

The 5. 9 is capable of way more power than we can hook up, or the drivetrain handle, now, with nothing as exotic or spiffy as those pics.

PSD world flipped upside down??

I highly doubt that. Anything being tried in Texas today, is about 5 years behind Pennsylvania on the PSD. ;) :D

I sorta agree with Gene.....

Equal-length headers are a waste of time on a turboed engine - BUT if you get to a point where your head can outflow your OEM manifolds (which isn't hard to do lately... . )... . you gotta do something to let her breathe.

How are these innovations coming along?
