I don't know about lost hp, but more important I did see a 100 degree drop for EGTs and somewhat faster spool up of piers hx40. As for lost hp, it may depend on the truck, I have been told by a few that with my current bombs I am running slightly above what was to be expected in rwhp. I currently have a 145000 miles on the truck that is consistently getting 21 to 23 mpg highway. Loaded with my slightly over 10,000 lbs 5th wheel on the way to munice and back I got and average of 14mpg.

Actually, I was thinking about putting a Banks sticker on the back window to make it more of a sleeper. Kind of like the 350 emblems I had on my 454 '69 Camaro. The problem is, I can't get anyone around here to try to run me!

Not bad mouthing Banks whatsoever but I mean the dealer doesnt go around pushing TST or Edge products. Just banks since its a pretty known household name. Kind of like K&N is. eventhough it might not be the best

Lube Man, if you are looking at doing exhaust I would suggest going with a full exhaust instead of the straight pipe, it can get really loud. I don't know your personal tastes or situation, but I have to show up at customers homes and business, so loud wasn't an option (I liked it myself). This is why I went with the Magnaflow (plus the fact my brother owns a performance shop and I got it at cost :D ). It has a 3 1/2" down pipe and 4" the rest of the way, and they are coming out with a 4" down pipe kit to retrofit if you want to later. The reason for this is if you are basically stock a 4" down pipe can cost you low end power and mileage, so run the 3 1/2" till you need the extra flow capacity. There are also a lot of other good systems out there, but I don't have any experience with those so I can't comment on them. Happy hunting.

OK, now I am really confused. Some people say the bigger exhaust will result in reduced low end power and mileage. Some say it depends on the truck. What's the reasoning behind that?

Too much exhaust flow and the turbo will require longer to spool up. On a stock turbo you really don't need 4", remember that volume of a tube increases exponentially as diameter increases, if I remember correctly, one 3" flows as much as two 2 1/2". A slight back pressure on the turbo will actually cause it to spool up faster. As far as depending on the truck, yes mods will change that, we are talking about a basically stock truck.
