Help... ... . unknown direction... ...

I've developed a nasty problem of stalling when I come to a stop... If I keep the rpms up around 900-1000 while stopping, it'll roll through OK. If I go to neutral, it idles with a slight lope, 50-150 rpm, then bump the throttle before shifting into drive... . It's also getting harder to start when it dies. My mechanic diagnosed it as a locked torque converter, but after replacement, we've still got the same problem..... bummer..... new fuel filter and lift pump...

They took it to a dealer to use his diagnostics, to no avail... . we've never had any codes show up.....

I've only had it for 7000 of the 117000 on it, and until now it's been a great rig... ... ...

Thanks Bob, I'm hoping it's a sensor vs the "big" pump, maybe crank or cam... . they're only about $45 ea, so I might try that this weekend...

I believe its your vp44. The internals on some pumps seem to loose the ability to pump fuel up to the correct pressure. I just went thru one of those and replacing vp44 cured it.

Thanks to all... ... ... I had an injector pump installed yesterday, and it seems to have solved the problem..... What a bear to diagnose... ... ..... It acted like the transmission was locking up... ...

I've only got about 150 miles on it right now, but we'll do about 500 this weekend...
