i am looking at a truck that the owner said ever sence the reacall on the throttle cable sence he got it replaced when he starts it in the cold it stalls but once warm it runs fine is this a problem also it has an oil leak around the timing cover area what could this be and is this a problem the ac dosnt work i dont care though prolly needs a new compressor or somethign of the sort and the cruise dont work could this be a sign of future problems or is this just with the cruise thanks guys

You had better look the timing case over real well as it could be cracked from a KDP that has fallen out (read the post from carolina cummins about a week ago). The stalling is probally the Idle as mentioned above, Air conditioning could be anything from a leaking connection or anything. did the cruise control quit when the throttle cable was changed? it could be just unhooked.

the person that has the truck now has the gasket for the timing case cover and thinks that is what it is if when replacing the cover the dowl pin is out what do i do will it be right there or what that is if i get this truck

If I were you I would definitely pull the fan hub mount off if the rest of the timing case looks good. That was the only place I didn't/couldn't check for a busted case, Sure enough, it was busted right under the mount. Not a job for the weak hearted most definitely  Good luck

If the KDP damage has already happened, it won't affect how the engine runs... Unless someone runs all the oil out of the engine... then it won't run very well. :)

The bolts holding on the front cover itself could be a bit loose in a few places. My '98 had a few loose ones and made for a nice little oil leak.

ok it has done it for quite a while he has had it for 80k it now has 198k on it and if you leave it over night it will leave a spot of oil about the size of a quarter on the ground what do yall think kdp or seal or somethign else

If it's the KDP you should have a spot about the size of your hat. If it fails it is usually a big time leak. If you have not blocked the KDP e-mail me at -- email address removed -- for instructions about how to do that.

ok so its not kdp if i get this truck the kdp tab is the first thing thats being done, it also idles low (500rpm) he said thinks its the injectors and thats also what the diesel place told him if it isnt injectors what else is it

It probably just needs the idle adjusted. It needs to be a least 750 in gear with the AC on. If it runs smooth then the injectors are probably ok.

DBogo, the AC and cruise problems could be caused if someone, while working on the engine, inadvertently knocked the vacuum tube off the vacuum pump. Look on the driver's side of the engine, near the front, below the Throttle Position Sensor. The tube is a push fit, and it's easy to knock it off. Been there. Done that! Nick.

ok carolina cummins how much oil did the truck you bought leak, and not to sound stupid but how do you but the idle up a little bit

ok one more thing is he said a while ago the transmission poped out of overdrive a while ago but it stopped and hasnt done it again so im not sure if thats a problem or just a once a time thing
