Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Stalls when first starts

My truck just started this. When you first start it (hot,cold in between doesn't matter) it will stall when you take off. Doesn't die or quit just acts like there is no fuel there. Will run fine till the next time you start it. Will change the filter today but don't really believe that is the problem. Anyone had a similar problem?



12/1/03 Changed the fuel filter today. Same deal, starts fine, but when you head down the road it falls flat of it's face for about 3 or 4 seconds, then catches and runs like gangbusters. May have a fuel pressure check done. Any ideas?

Filter is not a bad place to start. Post back after you change it.

Sick Cummins

Well I take my sick truck to the dealer tomorrow-(12/06/03) I think it may be the lift pump. I hope this is under warranty (71000 miles). Will post back with results.

Sick truck-stalls after start

Well I picked up my truck today. No lift or injector pump problems!! What they found was one (1) code that said my speed sensor was bad. Musta been cause it seems to have fixed the problem. My cost including labor $84. 73.
