I see performance and lubricity Stanadyne. Is there much difference?

I have used Stanadyne Performance Formula in every tank since the day I picked mine up from the dealership. No problems even when the temp dips into the sub-zeroes here. Came recommended to me from my brother who works for Freightliner. For whatever that's worth.

A top-notch diesel repair shop has been talking to a fuel distributer. They recommended stanadyne at least ever other tank. Carson City Dodge said 06 should not need anything. So who do you believe??

The Lubricity Formula does not prevent fuel gelling. It is a lubricity additive only, and a very strong one at that. the Performance Formula provides lubricants, anti-gel treatment, and cetane booster. It s a more complete additive and what most people use when they talk about stanadyne. It has also been designated for use with ULSD.

Dodge says that the 3rd Gen trucks do not require additive. I use Stanadyne Performance in almost every tank. My CTD is a little quieter and smoother. It does get slightly better mileage, but not enough to offset the cost of the additive. Personally, I think it helps. There are so many good reasons to use an additive. The only reason I have heard not to is because a dealer said not to.



I buy the 1/2 gallon size of Stanadyne that treats 250 gallons and 4 of the "singles". When they are empty, I refill them and keep them in a container inside my truck.

Thanks for the info. I see a farm implement company by me has 1/2 gal for $20. Just don't know if I will get anything in performance to justify the cost. I got thier last jug. I think I will stick with preformance. That's what they had. Additives must be hot now. GI Joe's was out of everything. This farm company said it would be 4-6 week to get more.

Well, I was at the local Big R store this weekend. They had 5 gallon cans of Stanadyne on "sale" for $189. 00 I guess that is cheap, but it just sounds so expensive.

I did a search and found a couple of places on EBay that carry Stanadyne.

I cant get it locally so it looks like Im going to have to order some.

I get PF in 5 gallon cans from a local Cummins shop. About $180~ is about right.



I got a bunch of 8 oz and 1/2 gallon bottles from a commercial bottle manufacturer and break the whole 5 gallons down at one time.

The main difference is the performance Formula has cetane booster and wax modifiers for cold climates, the reccommended ratio is 1:500, the lubricity formula is best used in warmer weather and is cheaper to use at 1:1000 ratio, just change your formulas with the seasons.

I kid you guys not, I was passing by the Camping World in Rogers, MN, last Friday night and just off the cuff, decided to stop. As I was wandering through the store I came across Performance Formula on clearance for $2. 98 a pint. I cleared them out. It was only 6 bottles but the cheapest in the Bismarck area is about $7. 00 a pint. You just never know!

You have three different formulas. The Performance formula is a cetane, anti gel, water killer and lubricity combo, the Lubricity is just that lubricity only, the Performance JR formula is lubricity and water killer. All three are ULSD formulated and they are OEM approved too, no other aftermarket brands are OEM approved to my knowledge. Stanadyne is also one of the oldest diesel injection companies out there so they KNOW what a diesel needs etc. It's all we will carry as they have the approval and are a true diesel injection company!!
