Is anybody using one of these things? How does it work? As there is no pump in a nv4500/5600, how can it filter the oil? They are advertised in the Geno's Garage/TDR issue 33(?), or you can see them here: http://216.167.98.200/CoastalData/s...45098185&st3=-76688605&Product_ID=221&CATID=1

What would be sweet is a way to filter AND cool the oil, maybe with a little 12 volt electric pump and an auto transmission cooler. Any ideas?

I have one and I love it. Inexpensive, adds more lube capacity, and filters the lube. I put an ultra-strong 1. 5"x 1. 5"x . 500 rare earth magnet inside the filter housing. It's incredible how quickly the 5 speed lube gets dirty. Its cheap insurance. :)

The gears in the transmission sling the oil at the filter opening. This is why you must mount it in the right side P. T. O cover and install it with the correct side up. I think it works great.

I would love to try the new "Fast Cooler" for the 5 & 6 speeds. It is supposed too increase the lube capicity by 44%! Kinda pricey though.

It replaces the OEM P. T. O cover. You could put it on the left side of the trans and have Geno' filter on the right side. I guess they are sold in pairs. One for each side of the trans. Thats some serious protection. :) Look how big it is:

A swuft idea!

I see a nice side benefit to that transmission cooler! You could get the optional temp port on both halves of the cooling unit and install a temp probe in one, and a small DC or AC powered heat probe for those Brethren up yonder in the Great White Northern Climates for winter operation. Sure would be nice to not be required to have the strength of king Kong to shift on early startup, and the wear and tear on the internals would have to be decreased significantly.

Of course a glue on engine oil heater such as Wolverine EO heater could be applied to the bottom of the transmission and/or Xfer case to do the same thing.

Just something to think about.

I just posted about the FAST cooler in the Product/accesory forum... . I didn't realize this posting was here.

I used to run the Geno's filter on my old Getrag (First Gen) and the trans finally failed and I converted to the NVG4500HD. The filter had no connection w/ the Getrag getting old and it seemed to do a good job while on the old trans.

Maybe the ideal set up is a filter on the right side and a Fast cooler on the left (as mentioned by HEMIDart). Any one up for splitting a Fast Cooler? I'd even be willing to give up the temperature probe side.

What we really need is a TDR Group Purchase!:D
