Info on new 5er vs. old one

GVWR Difference SRW vs DRW

If he is thinking of adding an adapter to his 5th wheel trailer so that it can be towed by a "goose neck" hitch type, he needs to ask the trailer manufacturer if their trailer is okay with this type of adapter. There is a lot of info on this site and the RV sites concerning problems with using an adapter like this. The "30A" series is the one I'm talking about. The "40" series looks like a better option... ;)

It is the 40 series he is looking at,the truck is set up for pulling his 5th wheel camper

He has it in the pickup now and seems to be happy with it, He said it makes for smoother shifting because of the movement of the hitch plate. it seems to be pretty

well made, I have never seen a hitch that worked quite like this one.

The 40 series looks interesting... Only time and experience will tell if it works as advertised. I use several types of hitches for my fifth wheels and you basically get what you pay for. My Reese "TrailBoss" hitch worked but it was inexpensive, and would sometimes "bind up" while trying to unhitch. It also had a lot of "chucking" with the kingpin hitting the insides of the hitch while accelerating and stopping. My current hitch is a B&W "Companion" hitch and it works a lot better. No binding, and no noticable "chucking. " ;)
