how much does it affect it?? will it hurt any thing to adjust it on a stock truck that is straight piped nd no silencer ring??

No it wont hurt it, it should bring the boost on quicker and will prolly smoke more under full throttle low speeds. You do have gauges right? at least EGT?

no guages on the 97 which is the one my brother wants to adjust the star wheeel on. is it going to be that much of a raise in egts?

For the longevity of his engine, install at the very least an EGT gauge before increasing fuel levels. It never ceases to astound me, how just a small adjustment can send the EGT gauge zooming round the dial to alarming levels, when a high gear is selected on a grade.

The EGT gauge is really helpful for monitoring those adjustments you make in the cold of winter, when summer raises intake temperatures to a new high.

Any fueling enhancments will raise EGTs and how high depends on a lot of things from load to steep hill to hot day and so on. Its not worth taking a chance to save $150. 00 for an EGT gauge and toasting a $5000. 00 engine.

Instead of just turn the star wheel forward, you should slide the afc housing up and then adjust the star wheel after that. You will probably like that better. Like what everyone else is saying, get an EGT guage before anything. It is just cheap insurance.

Crank that thing all the way forward, slide the throttle plate forward and have fun, you can control smoke with the go pedal.

i am going to take my plate out along with some DB370's stock turbo and then some water and meth :) i will be about 400hp when the meth is on :)
