Archived Staring trouble

I own a 99 2500. I have been experiencing difficult starting with excessive cranking recently. My vehicle starts up with no trouble first thing in the morning. Later in the day, especially if it is hot out (80 degrees plus), after running errands, I have excessive cranking, and my fuel pressure gauge reads 10 Psi to the fuel pump? Any suggestions.

you need a code reader . if it shows 0216 most likely vp-44 injection pump. The local Dodge dealer said they spray cold water on the pump when its hot and if its the pump it should start. I dont know if this is true or not but I have seen it posted on here before. Good luck.

Just went over 100k and I have the same problem on my 2003 2500. I have replaced the fuel pump, batteries, and belt - still won't start when hot. No codes are showing up.

Pressure gauge pre or post filter?

I'd take a look at the filter anyhow.

Spraying cool water on the VP will make it start. It is a sign that the computer is going out on the top of the VP.
