Starscan/Uconnect install

Bought and installed the factory uconnect parts module 56043255ai, mirror 5064017ae, and mirror harness 56051317ac and built a harness to connect them all. I am wondering if the computer needs to be turned on or advised that the truck now has Uconnect? Not sure what the tool is called starscan, drd, ect but maybe someone knows if there is something to turn on to enable Uconnect.

I have not had to use a star scan to turn on a U connect on a truck... ... ... ... but I haven't done it that way. There is a pkg to add on that is cheaper and still has the factory warranty. Your way wil not be warrantable.

module $483. 75,mirror $174. 00, mirror harness $30. 75. I have the after market Uconnect but I am trying to change over to the factory setup. Page 8t-2 of the service manual talks about programing the Hands Free Module when it has been replaced using the DRB. Anyone had to do this?

very cool you got it done congrats yes there is programming in the DRB that has to be done... It is under entertainment I believe...

Mcrossley: Thanks for the info. I'll have the dealer look for it next time I get the oil changed.

MCrossley - familiar with the DRB are you? Do you know if there is anything that needs to be done to tell the Uconnect module that it has Sirius, or to listen to its audio input connector? I have the factory Uconnect, bought the factory Sirius (thinking gosh, the factory kit should work . . . ) and the Uconnect will not see it/pass the signal on. My dealer service dept. is clueless and sedentary. The parts guy is the only one trying to help me.

yes the module has to be accessed through the drb and told it is there... Again I think that is under Entertainment if I am not mistaken...
