Truck has been stored for two months and I got a large number of good ideas from you folks prior to lay up, (full fuel, fuel addative, oil and fitler change, battery disconnect, and stored inside. )

Now it is near time to restart. Any thing I should do prior to start?('')

thanks

akshadow on the 2nd Gen 24-valve trucks after a long park, since they light off so instantly, Cummins suggested removing Fuse 9 so it could be cranked over without firing to get oil circulating then plug it back in and start up.

Since the 3G trucks crank a bit longer and start so smooth and easy I think you'll be fine to fire it up in the normal fashion :)

In cold weather the engine will go right up to 1000 rpm at starting. Could that be a problem? I would wait for a warmer day so the idle is only 750.

I agree. Might it also help to add some oil? Would that help smear some over the top end, where most of it has long since drained into the pan?

I would not be to concerned about it, I have the same situation several times a year. I usually plug it in to get the oil and block heated up (even in the summer) and start. They smoke a little when left for several months without starting, but it clears up in a few minutes.
