Maybe you guys can help me out. I only have 100 miles on my 04. 5 and when i take off i get a bad shimmey from the back of the truck and it only lasts for about 25 feet. Is this a common problem? Truck is a 3500 SRW QC LB AUTO no LS rear 4x4. Thanks.

It is called launch shudder. Drive it a bit longer before you take it in. Also do you have it loaded or empty. If you get it corrected empty, it might do it loaded. Take it to the dealer the way you normally have it loaded. It is usually a simple adjustment to the drive line angle. Also if you have a two piece shaft, it could have the wrong center bearing support.

Shudder

Bowron,

I had the same "shudder" when the truck was new. I now have 3,xxx miles on it and it has gotten much better.

Mine does it but only when turning right or left under moderate to heavy acceleration. It doesn't do it if I'm light on the pedal while turning OR if I am launching in a straight line under moderate to heavy acceleration. I wonder if it has to do with the torque-activated limited slip rear end.

hmmmm.

Give It Time

Mine use to hop alittle when turning under throttle. Now with

21,000 Miles i never feel it, except the normal Trac-Rite shudder.

When the rear is as new as urs its really tight.

It looks like you said no Limited-Slip in your post, so if thats the

case read sag2s post. ;)

thanks for the replys, It seems to do it all the time when starting out although truck has been empty since new. I only have 180 miles on it. My instinct tells me its the center bearing and its very anoying, i cant see it getting better on its own but maybe it will screw up the u-joints given enough time! O well back to the dealer. Thanks guys.

Mine is the same but is most noticeable when coming of the highway and I stop and turn.
