2002 H.O. 6 Spd: Recently I have noticed that unless I bury my foot into the floor mat with the clutch pedal, I will not get starter engagement. Looked under dash at the safety switch riding on the clutch pedal shaft and am not sure about what I see. The safety switch appears to ride freely on the shaft (slide back and forth) with no means of keeping it located in one place. Is this correct, or is something missing from the switch/shaft installation. Note that I changed the clutch servo assembly about 18 months ago and have only recently started experiencing this problem. The clutch engagement has not changed, no problem getting gears, only starting. Anyone experience this on their trucks?

The switch does have a spring in it. You can remove the switch w/o disconnecting any of the master cylinder pushrod. Look at the white keeper, see the two outward projecting tabs, squeeze them in a bit and it will slide off. Then slide the switch body to the pedal and snap the switch body off. Next disconnect the connector. It has a safety on the retainer, two actions. With the switch removed, you can inspect IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS. Might be able to inspect the contacts and clean or find that its worn out.
