my truck, since i bought it, is plauged by the bad start/stop solenoid relay problem since i bought it. just yesterday i removed the relay and jumped circuit w/ a wire and solenoid engages fine, or seems to. my question is what is the relay amperage, & can i find this at a local parts house, or is it a special dodge only product?

thanx

You can use a Radio Shack 30 amp auto relay. It will last for quite a while in spite of being a little low on the amp rating. It costs about $6 the last time I looked. Better is to get a 70 amp auto relay from an electronics store. That may cost about $11 or so. I have seen them for $7 but usually more than that. Opening the relay cover on the firewall is kind of a PITA to do without breaking some plastic. After that just unplug the bad relay and plug in the new one.

Have you removed the solenoid, then cleaned the plunger and bore? Might be a good use of 30 minutes.

Get rid of it! Put in a PTO cable and hide the end somewhere in the cab. Do a search on PTO cable install or solenoid replacement.
