Starter Solenoid Maybe?

Last couple days when I start the truck after sitting a while, idiot lights go out turn key as usual and nada. . ziltch. . zero. By foolin with it the following works: try as usual, turn key on and off couple times, normal start porcedure and it kicks right over like it's supposed to. Solenoid? Starter relay? Ingnition switch? Where do I start? All battery, starter and alternator connections are clean and tight?

If you get a clicking sound then is most probably is the starter solenoid contacts. If no click, you may have an ignition switch problem. The contacts are easy. Just take the numbers off the solenoid and get them at NAPA or some other parts store.

ignition sw plug

It may just be the plug on the ignition swithch, mine did that a while back, took the cover off the bottom of the steering columb and pushed the plug back in and everything was okay.

Worth a try.....
