well, while the truck is down i decided to start on the fuel system. first part is the tank pick-up tube. took a 12an (3/4 inch) fuel cell bulkhead and bored the bottom out to receive a 3/4 od aluminum tube. from here it goes to a aeromotive filter, then to a aeromotive a-1000 pump. still looking for a filter/water separator that will flow enough for the pump. i think i found one made by racor, it normally is found on diesel pumps at truck stops. they say it will flow 50-gpm with a 25 micron rating.

Fleetguard FS1000 10 micron, used on 600hp ISX Cummins. It should flow what you want. Use a remote mount fuel filter head, available from Cummins, Baldwin etc. I don't have the part number I used, but it has 10AN, 7/8" inlet, outlet. 1" -14 thread nipple. Here is mine.

according to fleet guard the fs-1000 only flows 89. 82 gph, the aeromotive a-1000 flows 140 gph. the highest flowing fleet guard filter is a fs-1218 it flows 120 gph, still not quite enough. the racor filter flows over 900 gph, only problem is not many people carry them.

DBohl, yes this takes the place of the mechanical lift pump.

Bgilbert, is that filter setup from Glacier diesel ???

Michael

Michael, no. I bought everything locally, minus the A-1000, got it from Jegs. GDP uses the same filter head ~ $12 from Cummins. FS1000 is an upgrade of the filter they use, FS1212. I just used some scrap metal I had laying around for mounting it.

could you hook me up with some part numbers??

and some other info for that filter setup

thanks

Michael

Cummins filter head 1" 14 thread 7/8" outlet/inlet or 10AN, Cummins part number 142784S, Baldwin number FB1311. Use with any 1-14 thread filter. Cummins sells a bracket for it, you could make your own or I think GDP sells that bracket too. Go to www.cumminsfiltration.com , catalog. Enter 142784S or FS1000 for specs on each. FS1000 is 10 micron stratapore media. I gave ~ $17 for it at the blue C. The Baldwin Xreference number is BF1259 I gave ~ $12 for one. Uses -10 AN o-ring sealed straight cut to AN flared adaptors. -10 AN pushlok fittings, hose.

What type of info would you like?

SFrey, did you just use a 12an to 10an reducer fitting on the fuel hose(s) between the bulkhead and inlet to the A1000? I'm gonna redo my system with a 12an bulkhead in the bottom of the tank, instead of the 10an on top.

my pick up tube is a 12an at the top of the tank, from there it goes to aeromotive's pro filter 12an in/out, the filter is connected to the pump with a 12 oring an to 10 oring an fitting. the inside dia of the 12 to 10 is the 12an size. meaning it dosn't step down to a 10 an on the inside. from the pump to the regulator is 10an, return from the regulator is also 10an.

got my fuel module bulkheads finished, the large on is a 12an (for the 3/4 pick up tube) the small one is a 8an for the return.
