Just wondering. How many amps do the grid heaters draw, say, on a zero degree morning? And relating, how many amps does the starter draw? Lets say all the while, it's zero degrees and the truck has been sitting for 10 hours without being plugged in  . I'm asking because I have too small a battery (900 CCA, to be exact - didn't know any better 2. 5 years ago) and I don't quite have the money for a better one just yet, and it's supposed to be 0 degrees tonight, possibly even below that. The moral of the story is, between the grids and the starter, I'm trying to conserve cranking power. My block heater doesn't workl. Any suggestions?

Jaynes, from my big bad Chilton manual, it says cranking draw test from the starter is 450-550 amps. Don't know about the grid heaters, though I've seen it somewhere. Bill

You should be all right. My battery isn't much larger than yours. I have started at -20 with no problems and no heater pluged in.
