Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Starter Contact fix

My Truck acted like it had a dead battery, then started, and then motor would not shut off. I had remembered that I had read about this problem in the TDR web site. I ordered the starter contact fix from LarryB's, removed the starter and put in the new contacts and plunger. The fix worked great and solved the problems I was having. If any of you are having this type of Starter problems I would suggest LarryB's. fix. I was lucky because I shut the truck down and the parts from LarryB's got here in two days so there was no other damage. The top bolt in the starter was rather difficult to get out, other then that, it was a quick and easy fix. Truck is a 1998, 12V with 73,000 miles on it and I brought it brand new in 98'. The TDR web site saved my butt again.

Had the same problem with mine, minus the not shutting off part. I ordered my parts from larry b's and its been smooth sailing from there. Hardest part was soldering in the new contacts. You almost need a propane soldering iron to get the leads hot enough to stick.

Did exactly the same thing to my old ride..... minus the soldering. A little dielectric grease to prevent corrosion and it's working great to this day.

I've done my '95 3500 also. No soldering was needed. ??????

He has an add in the latest TDR magazine. Should have a ph. and a web address. I have done his fix on my truck and also on a friends trk. Both worked out great and no we did not have soder anything.

now hopefully i can stop worrying if my truck will start or not.
