I bought a set of starter contacts from Larry B's a month or so ago planning to put them in in my spare time(yea right). I have a 1996 with 113,000 miles and knew that it wouldn't be long before my starter would give me trouble. Well, I ended up having no "spare time" and they never got installed. This AM my starter hung up for a few seconds so tonight I MADE spare time. I could not get the middle bolt out as my socket wrench would not clear the starter housing. I had to file a large allen wrench to stick in the end of the socket and turn it out that way. Any way the contact was eaten away just like everybody describes. Beginning thickness: . 115 in, ending thickness; . 032 in. Bottom line: replace them if you have over 100,000 miles!
