On 2000-2001 trucks there was an update for the starter fuse on our power block under the hood for our trucks. About a week ago my wouldn't start and that was the issue. Turn the key nothing. Replaced with another "good" 25 amp and the truck started and worked fine for about 4 day's. Yesterday it blew again. 3 times total. Every time I turn the key it blows. My relay was tested and is good. I am assuming that this is fuse feeds the "s" terminal to engage the solenoid. Before I pull the starter what else should I check? Anyone else have this issue? Please advise all!

The contacts inside the starter wear out over time which causes that fuse to blow. Mine did that I replaced contacts and stater works great! Alot cheaper than a new starter and its a simple job.

Here is one for ya... Something along the lines happened to my wifes 2000. Went to start it and nothing. . All the dash lights came on just like it has always done. Anyway we had it tow'd home so that I could work on it. First thing I thought of was the starter contacts. . so I dropped the started and replaced the contacts and plunger. I just so happened to have one of Larry's sets in my tool box that was bought for her truck but never installed them.

Got the starter back on and still nothing. Went thru the fuses and found the starter fuse was blown. Replaced it and the truck started right up.

When I took the starter contacts out. . one was worn paper thin and the other was normal size. This is the same thing I found on my 97 when I replaced the contacts on it. Anyway a couple of weeks later I was talking to Larry and explained what had happened. He said that when the contacts on the 24v wear out it will blow this fuse. .

So... it would be my suggestion to drop the starter and check/replace the contacts and plunger. I would bet that this will cure your problem.
