Archived Starter Fuze

I have an 01 dodge that keeps blowing the 20 amp starter fuze over and over any ideas? I'm stranded!

Could be your starter is shorting out, try a larger fuse and see what happens. Rick

The fuse only protects the wireing to the solenoid, either there is a short circuit in the wire or the solenoid is bad. There is a relay also but I doubt it is the problem. bg

The fuse should only control the starter solenoid. Sounds like the solenoid is bad, causing the fuse to blow. The starter solenoid feeder is unfused from the battery. If you need to get it started, you can jump the solenoid contacts (careful), while someone turns the key. Leave the fuse out. Dunno if that fuse also runs the ignition circuit as well, hope not. If you do get her started, -dont- turn it off!
