Hi Fellas, During a recent hunting trip, the starter in my truck quit. A tap of the hammer... and away we went - to the truck electrical repair shop in Penticton. Brushes, plunger assembly, rear bearing, etc. were replaced. The truck started as it should for a few days, then when shutting it off it would make a loud clang, almost like the starter was engaged. This doesn't happen every time. The truck is in the shop at present. . Any ideas on this problem?? Thanks... Greg

Update on starter problem. When the plunger assembly was removed, a ball bearing was in the cup that the plunger spring was seated in. This seemed to hold the starter drive out farther than it should. Mechanic said he'd never seen this before, and the blow-up illustration didn't show the ball bearing either. Any of you fellas had this situation before??? Thanks Greg

Yes. There are two (I believe) in there, but for the life of me I don't remember where they are at and what they do. It's been eight months since I have taken a starter completely down.
