problem started off and on. Had to push clutch in several times and then it would roll over and start. Today I did not think itwas going to go. First there was nothing, like no juice was getting to the starter and then a bit of clicking and then she was off and running. Now I am thinking I have a

starter problem. This has been going on for a couple of months but this is the first time I have heard any clicking. It is a 1997 turbo with a five speed. Help thanks r fulton

If it's the clutch switch, you CAN wire around it... many don't think that's safe. Borg Warner makes a replacement, BWD S26405.

You can test it by jumping across the plug to see if that's the problem. There is a green connector with two wires on the side of the master electrical plug behind the brake pedal. It goes up to the clutch rod, where the switch is located in the cab. Jump the plug and see if it still has problems. If so, it's probably the starter contacts. Also could be the ignition switch. Easy fix either way.

Afterthought, If it clicks, it's not gonna be the ignition switch..... A heavy metal clicking sound when the key is turned indicates the contacts in the solenoid on top of the starter. Does it click several times and then start? If you hold the key to start and let the clutch pedal up and down a little, then it starts, it's the clutch switch.
