starter won't stop. new problem mayday

Even with the key out of the ignition, the starter won't stop spinning, even while running. Probably just a stuck solenoid. Anyone agree with that and know where to buy a rebuilt kit or something like that. I don't feel like burning or replacing my starter so soon as possible please.

Thanx

Justin

:{ :{ Ok, new problem. I figured I would take apart the solenoid and try to clean it up a bit just until the parts came in. Got the starter out no problem. Probably one of the easiest, I've done in awhile. And then "clinck, clinck. " I dropped one of the bolts into the bellhousing. Ever see a grown man cry. Pleeeeeeeassssse, tell me there is an easy way to get it out, with out dropping the transmission. One thought, I do have a dremmel. Would cutting a small hole in the bottom of the bellhousing in order to fish it out, then drill, tap and patch, or would that weaken it to much? :{ I am about to find a long magnet to get it. Fingers crossed. I need a beer.

Justin

Sorry for rambleing

See if you can find one of those magnets that has the magnet on the end of a long flexible wire. I've got one of em and it's bailed me out of many nerve racking situations like these.

Justin,

Run down to the local auto store and purchase a magnet on the end of an extendable rod. Sears also carries them. The magnet is on a swivel and you can work it down along the bell housing and the flywheel. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

GOT THE F'ER!!! Had to pull the transmission. Took 6 hours for my neighbor and I to do it all. Might I say, thats one heavy transmission, DAMN. Got the parts this mourning, very quick. Everything works great. Thanx for your help.

Justin :D :D

We feel your pain. we are crying for you. Damn that sucks. ! Glad you got it going and had someone to help. The 24 volt contacts will probably out last the starter. Sure beats crawling under the truck and whacking the starter with a hammer to get it to stop cranking. :)
