Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Starter Won't Turn Over

I have a 1999 3/4 Ton. Wife pulled it down in the driveway to wash the beast, After finishing she went to start the truck but no luck. I have the bendix engage on the starter but it won't crack over. Batteries are both at 12. 6V making good contact. Any help on what to do next from the forum is appreciated. Thanks,

Crawl under the truck and have your wife try to start, make sure to block the wheels so it can't roll. When you hear the starter click, tap it a few times with a hammer, don't beat on it and it may start. I would guess the starter contacts in the solenoid. Read this post.

If it starts when tapping on the starter it is probably the contacts.

What is the truck year, and auto or manual?

It is a 1999 2500 4x4. It's an automatic. Tried what you offered and it wouldn't turn over. Went and replaced the starter and all is good.
