Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Starter

A friend of mine has a 97' gasser that has clicking sounds when he tries to start it. Sounds very similar to mine when I had starter contact problems. He has a 318 engine. Would he possibly have the same starter and starter contacts? Doesn't D/C supply the starters for our diesels? If so I can just put in some contacts for him. If it takes different contacts we'll have to regroup.

The beefy diesel starters are very similar to the gasser models... . I'd take it apart and replace what's broke if it were mine. There's really not much to them, and they are really easy to rebuild. Any shop that rebuilds starters/alternators should have an ample supply of parts in stock to rebuilt the ones we have... .
