I'm getting ready to replace my original lift pump with the latest revision 3990105. I also have Ray's Banjo's.

What steps do you follow after the change to start your truck? Do you have to "bump" the starter like with a filter change?

TIA... .

I usually key on ( not bumping the starter) once, just to get some fuel into the pump. The last time I changed the pump I lost the syphon flow from the tank, so I keyed on once then bumped the starter once. After that I cranked and it fired right up.

Hey Joe,

When I changed my lift pump earlier this year, I basically followed the same procedures I do when changing the fuel filter. I bumped the starter 4 - 5 times, just to be absolutely certain I had the lines fully charged... .

Also, *if* you have a fuel pressure gauge, in my experience, when the pressure is still at a decent number, the lines still have air in them. When the pressure drops to at or very close to 0 PSI, the lines are fully charged with fuel, and it would be safe to try actually starting the truck. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge... ... ... . shame, shame, shame. You need one!!!! :D

Hi Tom...

I've got a guage:) that's why I'm changing out the pump. It's got 50K on it, but is showing 2-3 psi lower, so I think it's time. I'd go nuts without a FP guage.

Thanks to you and Scott for the starting tips.
