This morning truck would not start up like it normally does, 1 to 2 revolutions and it 's running. I had to crank and crank and push the go pedal and it finally started. Didn't run very well, it would feel like it was going to stall when I had to stop. Made it to work, shut it down and tried to start it and it fired up. Now 8 hours later, it did the same thing as it did this morn. only it was running even worse on the way home. Stalled on me once,I made it home pulled in the driveway and in about 30 seconds it quit. So the first thing I did was changed the fuel filter got it running and it seemed fine for about 3 minutes then started to run rough and died. Tried to start again, same simptoms. Help

Have you replaced your fuel hoses? Do you see any fuel leaks? Do you have any idea what your fuel pressure is? Have you cleaned your pre-filter?

It sounds like you have an air leak to me. Try to pump up your fuel with the manual button on the side of the lift pump and see if it starts up better when you do that.

Thanks Joe, answers to your ?'s no to the fuel hoses, but I plan on the return line tomorrow, can't see any leaks, no fuel pressure gauge, and I will try the primer in the morning

Do both while you are at it. The job is a PITA so you would save some future hassle if you do them both now. If the supply line is bad you can get an air leak and not see any fuel leak.

Another place to look for a leak is the input banjo to the fuel filter. Two lines connect there. One is from the lift pump and the other is the return from the injector manifold. The fitting is kind of a stacked banjo so that the manifold goes to a small banjo on top of the large banjo from the lift pump.

You can get more room to work by removing the two nuts that fasten the master cylinder and leaning it toward the fender.

You might also check the overflow valve. If it has the same valve as my '95 you can take it apart. The spring should be about a 1/2" long or a tiny bit more (. 55"). If it is shorter you can stretch it a little. Don't over do it.
