I'm starting to outfit my new HO 6sp with guages and E-Brake. I would like boost and EGT for guages.

I had a pillar mount on my last truck and would like a cleaner installation. Geno's offers the combo from Westach that looks pretty good. Does anyone have experience good/bad with the combo? What is the difference between the 1/4 or 1/8 Probe size and which would you order?

I have read a number of posts that recommend the switch from BD for the E-Brake that attaches to the shift lever. I am hesitant about the looks and the wire running down the outside. And I would rather not drill the lever. What are some other suggestions?

Along the same line, I thought about connecting the E-Brake to the stop light circuit through an ON-OFF switch. Use the ON-OFF switch to enable the E-Brake to activate anytime the brake peddle was pushed enough to light the stop lights. Any pros or cons on this idea??

Thanks in advance. Past info has been a great help and I'm looking forward to your responses.

John

i have both the Westach, and BD shifter-mounted switch. . even though i'm using a Pacbrake... as far as the switch is concerned,i ran the wire down inside the shifter boot, and out the bottom using existing holes... i wouldn't trade switches for anything... looks cool, works great!!
the combo gauge is mounted on the A-pillar,and works well for me. . any farther away, and i think the numbers may be a bit too small for me... tom

If hooked to the brake light circuit instead of the throttle or ECU, you would only get braking action while applying the brake. If you are going down a long grade, that could get annoying. I would stick with the recommended connections so that it brakes when you get off the throttle. Just my $. 02 worth.

I just installed the Westach in mine about a month ago. Very nice unit. I used the 1/4" probe. It looks great in the little hole next to the cupholder in my 97. I know the dash is different in yours. I've got a picture of it on my webpage in my sig. Just click on "CASPER"

Thanks for the replys. I ordered the Westach dual guage. It may be a little hard to read, but without going to a pillar mount I think it is the best choice.

Started installing the switch for the E-Brake tonight. Found a black low profile rocker switch that nestles in the rubber pad below the key switch. Easy to reach and unobtrusive.

BTW, I tried to order the BD switch this morning. I got shuffled to three different places and no stock. Closest dealer is about 60 Miles from my house. They could UPS it, and maybe I would see it in a week. Maybe more. I gave up on that idea and actally like my new idea a lot better.

For those ugly wires running down the shift lever from E brake switch use a piece of black shrink tubing of appropriate size run it the full length of the lever and the wires disappear. You can get the long shrink tube from most electronic supply houses.

Good idea on the shrink.

I finished the wiring on my mini-switch this morning. The E-Brake with the 6 sp is awesome. I like my mini-switch location and looks, but I'm still contemplating the BD switch on the stick.

Does anyone have a picture of the BD switch? I've read many posts on how great it is and how cool it looks, but I still haven't seen the critter.
