Starting in second gear

Help!

Can anyone give me an idea what the problem with my tranmission is?

I was comming home from work and my check engine light came on and now my tranmission will not start in low gear, it takes off in second even when I have the shifter in first. It shifts just fine through the rest of the gears.

I would really appreciate any ideas.

If you do a pressure on the governor port you can determine whether it is a mechanical problem or electrical problem.



If your governor pressure port reads 0 psi when you first start off, chances are you have a stuck 1-2 shift valve on the vb.



If your governor pressure reads high,

ex - 60 psi chances are you have an electrical problem.



Look to either the governor solenoid or transducer, possible not resistance in pin # 31.



With a check engine light you can not rule out a fuse problem or something else within the truck.



If you cycle your key 3 times it should come up with a code that will help you diagnose your problem.
