Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Starting problem

A family member of one of the guys at work (long I know). Has a 24v. I'm not sure what year. 01 I belive. Bone Stock. The problem they are having sounds like a lift pump to me but I'm not sure. When they go to start it... . it'll crank and not fire till you just touch the throttle. What do you guys think it is? Obviously check the fuel pressure... ...

These 24v's are a little different animal than I'm use to.

Definatly check the fuel pressure.



Also check for cracked fuel filter lid or broken "O" ring on the lid or any other leak.



I believe these things are pretty air tight. If you have a broken seal, you can loose the "prime". This happen to me after I installed my FP guage. I had a slight air leak and I had a heck of a time getting the thing started after the truck sat for a period of time.

Well folks... now it won't fire. He brought it into work... . changed the oil... . nothing.
