Hi All,

I will cut to the chase. When I went to start my truck this morning, the starter engaged normally the the engine never turned over. After cranking a bit, I applied some throttle and it started right up. I suppose this could be a lift pump, but I am not sure. FYI: I did change the fuel filter last week, and I normally apply about 1/8 throttle as I turn her over.

Any input???

Thanks in advance,

~Chris

What is your idle RPM? You shouldn't need to give it any throttle to start unless it's really really cold. Sometimes too slow an idle can cause these symptoms.

Hi,

The idle is about normal; it is set at 720 RPM. This starting problem persists during several cranks. With slight throttle pressure, it starts right up.

Thanks for the quick response...

I'm not sure, but i think the new fuel supply and return line fixed mine. I had also done someother things at the same time!

Chris, just give it a little throttle when you start it. I do with mine and it hits on the first turn. If starting at idle, it will take several revolutions. Just think of the wear you're saving on your starter without cranking it all that long.
