Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) starts fine in cold, touch pedel motor races

99 ram. when around freezing truck starts fine. idels fine. touch pedel motor races like it has 1000 hp. have to wait till warms up 15 minuets and shut off and restart then its fine. anyone ever had this problem?

Your truck should have the fast idle feature inn the engine computer. Around 1100 at freezing, 1300 at 20 degrees. touching the brake disables high idle.

On my 99 I had to have the fast idle feature turned on by the dealer, apparently it is not the default. It does work like described in the post above

I believe the OP is describing something different than the high idle. He stated the engine takes off if he touches the go pedal, touching either the throttle or the brake will cancel the high idle not enable it. Could be an APPS sensor going bad, I've seen one in the early stages of failure only act up when cold and didn't throw any codes initially.
