Here's humor. A friend of mine works for the state, and I found out today that they bought 12 F450s quad/chassis cab with the 6. 0. They are going to be fitting them with a box in lieu of the bed, and given to the State Patrol for random check point scales. He was talking to the mechanic that will be getting them fitted, and the mech. was betting on having to replace all of the engines within the first year. He doubts that the dealer will warranty them stating "They were over loaded".



Evidently they were ordered last year, and took delivery the first part of this year, before all the known problems started really showing themselves.

The Mech even wishes that they had opted for the CTD's. It's the only diesel that he trusts to not fail, and they need so little maintenance.

If Colorado is anything like Montana the agency has no choice in what they get, it goes to the lowest bidder of the big three. Ford almost always wins if diesel is specified. Unfortunately the government hasn't discovered the you get what you pay for concept.

What cracks me up is that they could all probably go back the the dealer right now, and spend a couple of weeks on recalls alone. This is presuming that they start. I wonder if they were part of that batch that got the blank ECM installed.
