New York is also now doing computerized diagnostic checks as part of the inspection process. Do I have to disconnect my EZ before taking my truck in?

I don't know about your state, but here in some counties they require the OBD systems to pass all emissions related checks. The EZ box shouldn't matter. I routinely get overboost codes with ym compl box, but these do not fall under emission DTC's. I regularly clear the codes anyway with my OBD software.

I recall a few years ago I had a broken wire to my ecm on my wife's chrysler. It set an emission DTC which caused me to "fail" my counties test. I then registered it under a different address in a nearby county which only required tail pipe emissions. The car passed that and everything was peachy.

I wouldn't worry about the EZ box, it shouldn't effect anything.

Your EZ box won't matter at all, aside from that I'm going to step out on a limb and say that your truck won't need emissions testing anyways because it's a diesel and over a certain GVW. Unless they've changed things this year, I guess I'll find out my inspection is due next month.

There have been major changes here in NY this year regarding vehicle inspections. Not only are they required to do the standard mechanical inspection but now are required to hook you to the computer to "read" for any error codes that would result in repairs to fix the error code problems. People with older cars that fail will have to have the repairs done or not get their sticker. Poor people will have to spend maybe hundreds of $ to get their car out of the shop. The State wants the tax $ from those repairs!! Not to mention garages that do Inspections had to go out and buy this new computer system to do the diagnostics. :--)

welcome to west coast economics... I'm surprised NY took that long to get there. Been that way a long time here.

In Idaho they just do the tailpipe test, eventually they will start checking for codes like they do in Cal. My 01 with the DD True Torque module and DD Stage-1 Injectors passed with flying colors, as clean as without it last year, so no worries! Leave it connected! :D

It must be dependent on each individual truck because last summer I had to test for the first time and barely and I mean barely passed, and that was with the TTPM on the "timing only" setting.

I'm trying to figure out if it'd be better to make the TC lockup as soon as the test starts (more boost) rather than go the entire test run like I did last year w/out the TC ever getting to the engage point? Also wondering if it'd be been to run the test in 2nd gear rather than "D".

*Our test is performed on a dyno type machine*

In Washington, they did not dyno 4x4's, I do not know if that has changed. Guess they did not have techs that could tell the difference between parttime and fulltime four wheel drive. SNOKING

IN washington heavy vechicles, 2500 suburban just get a stiff test, it actual would not of passed as a 1500, but the sum of the parts for test that did not apply would of been a promblem, Everything the stat check for was sure low way below the limit, I glad it a 454, 2500. Not a lot of miles lately with high gasoling prices, used mostly for guest and when I home on leave. The CTD is the family car.

An update for this thread, got my truck inspected this week, they did not hook it up to the computer, I asked the guy about it thinking all vehicles got hooked up now and he said nope, diesel don't get hooked up. Maybe he srcewed up but mine didn't get hooked up.

They didn't hook mine to the computer either. They did some paperwork and then scanned my windshield registration with a gun. They also flushed my cooling system at my request. I also wanted new hoses but they said mine were OK. I told them to also put in a new tstat while they were at it but they didn't because I wasn't having any problem with it. So much for preventive maintainance! They were probably just too busy. Parts dept. gets $50. 00 for a new tstat for that vehicle!! I'll replace my own hoses this summer.
